About Coordinated Mess
Hey, I’m Andrea.
Before I say anything else, I want you to know this: I hear you, and chances are, I’ve struggled with many of the same things you may be facing right now. Honestly… that’s probably why we’re both here.
For years, people told me I should write down my story and share my advice, but I could never quite make it fit into a book. Then I realized — why should it be a book? Life is constantly changing, growing, and evolving, and maybe the best platform for sharing my story should grow and evolve too.
I personally live with anxiety, depression, and severe PTSD. Like many people, I also have a close circle of friends and loved ones who face their own mental health struggles and challenges. Alongside my personal experiences, I spent nearly a decade working at my local Department of Veterans Affairs hospital, including time in the mental health clinic. That experience gave me both personal and professional insight into supporting, managing, and navigating mental health challenges.
A few months ago, during a difficult season in my own life, I found myself searching for support from people who wouldn’t judge me or be too emotionally close to the situation. I found many incredible resources online written by professionals and organizations, and while those resources were helpful, I still felt like something was missing.
I wanted to hear from someone who had truly been there.
Someone who didn’t just study trauma or mental health in a classroom, but someone who had survived rock bottom and found a way forward. Someone who understood the feeling because they had actually lived it.
The more we get to know each other, the more of my story I’ll share. But one thing I will always say is this: none of us are perfect. We all have bad days. And chances are, I’ve either experienced something similar to what you’re going through, know someone who has, or have walked beside someone during their struggle.
If there’s one thing I hope you take away from this page, it’s this:
I believe in community, especially small-town community.
I believe in honesty, encouragement, and being approachable.
I believe there is almost always a silver lining worth searching for.
I’m deeply family-oriented, and I’m passionate about helping others succeed, heal, and grow.
Most importantly, I want this to be a place where people feel seen, heard, and understood.

About Me
Now, if you truly want to know a little more about me, here are a few tidbits that help tell my story.
My husband and I got married in 2021 during the middle of the global pandemic, which honestly feels pretty fitting for our lives — learning to navigate chaos together with humor and determination.
We also have two dogs and a cat who keep life entertaining. And while I do enjoy coffee culture, if I ever mention my “morning coffee,” there’s a good chance I’m actually talking about a Diet Dr. Pepper with no ice.
I was born and raised in Central Iowa, which gave me a deep appreciation for small-town communities and the people who make them special. Community has always mattered to me, both personally and professionally.
In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering with organizations such as the American Red Cross, Food Bank of Iowa, Dress for Success, local nonprofit agencies, and other community-focused organizations whenever I can.
As we continue getting to know each other, I want you to know my inbox and messages are always open. Whether you have comments, questions, concerns, need encouragement, or simply need a friend, I invite you to reach out.
